WCPA’s “Coco Live-to-Film Concert”

Tonight, I had the pleasure of attending my first performance as a WCPA subscriber, and I was touched by the personal hand written note left on my seat for me prior to the show. As the note described, the show tonight truly was about music and connection.
Watching Coco and seeing/hearing the music performed by a live orchestra was a truly heartfelt and beautiful experience. Observing the music live allowed me to feel it and understand the music and story in a whole new way. The emotional connections made between the movie and I, as well as the audience and the orchestra were palpable and healing.
Speaking of the orchestra, I was really inspired by the graceful, kind, and humble way they carried themselves, especially because they had the talent to truly be arrogant if they wanted to be. All the musicians appeared to really be enjoying themselves, smiling and nodding their heads and bodies along to the music. During the most heartfelt moment of the movie, I saw one of guitar players shed a tear. Seeing a man be able to be vulnerable and show his emotions in a genuine way where tons of people could see him was inspiring. A true man can show his heart, and it brought me hope to be reminded that real men exist.
One of the most special moments of the evening is when the orchestra surprised the audience and played in the lobby after the show. I was lucky enough to have a front row spot to that occasion, and it was a real treat.
I’m thankful for nights like these where you get to watch people play from their heart strings. Nights like these allow you to feel a full spectrum of emotions, the greatest of which are hope and love.
