He’s Just Not That Into You

This film always makes me insecure and depressed. Here’s the deal though: women are not the problem here, problematic behaviors from men are.
Ginnifer Goodwin is on the search for love, and she puts herself out there bravely only to have men not call her back or mock her for trying. As the audience, we know “he’s just not that into” her, but she doesn’t know that. Her behavior isn’t entirely the problem. Often times when “he’s just not that into you”, those men believe the best thing to do is to ghost a woman…not call her back. When has that ever been the kind solution? When a man doesn’t call back, a woman is left alone with her thoughts and questions. Rejection and confrontation, but what is worse is living a life without clarity and closure. Men, women, all people, if you’re not that into someone, find a kind way to tell them so they can move on.
How about the whole Bradley Cooper story? Scarlet Johansson is labeled as the slut in this film for flirting with a married man. I can’t condone flirting with a married man, but the real issue is that he cheats. Bradley Cooper’s mistakes in this film are underplayed and it’s unacceptable. The worst part is, Scarlet Johansson is led to ultimately believe that (say it with me now) “he’s just not that into” her… she shouldn’t have pursued a married guy, but he still said yes… asshole.
Ben Affleck apparently is “just not that into” Jennifer Aniston because he can’t commit after years in a relationship. People come with different traumas showing why they can’t commit. I felt like this story was unfair in that he DID love her, but was afraid, like all people are of love and getting hurt.
I really hate the way Justin Long treats Ginnifer Goodwin. Honesty is good, but Justin Long delivers truths like a real asshole. Being honest isn’t bad, but being mean is. The truth should encourage and liberate, not deeply insult or ruin self esteems.
In a nutshell, I’m just not that into this film. I think all people deserve better than cheap stereotypes and negligence of people’s feelings. Oh and everyone is annoyingly pretty in this film
End review, end rant, drop the mic.
