Harlequin Production’s “Pride and Prejudice”

This show brought me back to life .

I had no idea what to expect going into this, but every single element of this production exceeded my expectations. Harlequin described this production as “cheeky”, and I couldn’t agree more, but I think I can also call it a love letter to the modern day Jane Austin fan. I’m talking about the fans like me whose social media feed shares Austin memes. After all, are you a true Austin fan if you haven’t made fun Mr.Collins and his comment “what excellent boiled potatoes”?

I found myself laughing from beginning to end during this production, and in the best way. The humor brought to this script went beyond what I could ever imagine, yet felt so natural for these classic characters to exhibit.

This show also taught me a lesson about love, a lesson I dare not reveal because I want you all to buy tickets. Also, I kind of like the idea of keeping this secret between the show and I.

This show gave me a sense of hope, and perhaps that is strange given that this show isn’t exactly meant to inspire, but it turned a light back on in me that’s been off for a while. I felt myself smiling like a giddy school girl as I walked out today, and I can’t remember when the last time was that I did smile like that or feel that lightness inside me.

I love, I love, I LOVED this show, and I hope you all get the chance to see it.
