The Wistful Watcher

Written Summer 2025

As I sit in this chair,

I gaze out the window,

And watch the seasons change

And the circle of life flourish.

Mama bird protects her babies,

Blue Jay poses a danger,

Do I interfere? I must!

“Shush!” Okay, I’ll stay out of it.

I watch the changing leaves

Dance upon the trees

And I know the rain will pour

Cold walks, warm snugs coming

I see my dames reflected here

How beautiful they are

I watch them always

Guarding them with my heart.

Seasons will change, time pass,

But even when I’m gone,

I will always be here,

Gazing through the window.
