The Rescuers

Of all the Disney animations, I hardly ever hear people talk about this one, yet it is so great! Taking place on the bayou, this cartoon is both mysterious & nostalgic while still having that Disney flair. Bernard and Bianca are the most classy and sweet mice I’ve ever seen, Rufus is such a good cat, Penny is very adorable, and Madame Medusa is absolutely wretched (just as she should be).

I love a lot of things about this film: the color scheme, the concept art, the great soundtrack (The Rescue Aid Society song gets in my head often), the animation style, the voice actors, and the heart behind this entire story make this film a real treasure. This is a very calm film too, and is there for you when you need something relaxing and peaceful to enjoy.

This evening I tried to find some facts, but struggled to find evidence of any of them when fact checking, so instead I though I would so something different. My family and I were having a conversation about who would play the different character roles if Disney made a live action version of this film. Here were some suggestions we gave, but you can cast your votes below:

- Madame Medusa: Bette Midler or Carol Burnett

- Mr. Snoops: Paul Giamatti or Paul Walter Hauser

- Penny: if we could travel back in time, the little girl from “We Bought A Zoo”, the young actress from “Three Men and a Little Lady”, or young Christina Ricci.

- Bianca: Marion Cotillard, Lea Seydoux, or Juliette Bionche

- Bernard: Dan Fogler
