Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie

Raise your hand if you also went through a phase where you were in love with Michael J. Fox ! Raise your hand if whenever you watch films like Back to the Future or watch an episode of Family Ties if you still feel that love ! Okay, I’ll admit it, I totally love Michael J. Fox, and that fact is the very reason why I was initially hesitant to watch this film. I had seen interviews with him in recent years where his Parkinsons really flairs up, and it is sad to see him go through that! With that, I was not sure if my heart could handle this documentary. Well, here I am, I watched the documentary and it was WAY better than I thought it was going to be and it only made me adore him more!

Yes, this film talks about his Parkinsons disease, but the film is about him as a person. In that sense, I felt extremely guilty because I know I’ve never wanted to be entirely defined by my cancer, yet I unconsciously did that to Michael J. Fox.

Michael J. Fox seems like such a kind, funny, and genuine man who has quite a life story! This documentary taught me so much about him as a person, and every detail I learned made me appreciate him even more! I don’t want to spoil it, you just have to watch it!

This documentary felt incredibly cinematic, not because they were talking about cinema, but because of the artistic choices they made in their story telling. Every detail down to the warm lighting gave this documentary a sense of magic and hope that were delightful!

As I previously mentioned, I was ready to be depressed after watching this, but it genuinely surprised me how happy I felt! Im not surprised very often by film, but when a film manages to surprise me (especially a documentary), it deserves !

Still love you Michael J. Fox! Thank you for telling us your story and for being so honest, but also for continuing to be kind to everyone you come in contact with!
