Harlequin Production’s “Cabaret”

Life is a Cabaret, old chum. Come to the Cabaret.

I have taken the last few days to marinate on my experience with this show, and I am still in agreement with what I felt a few days ago: this show is perfect. The vocals, costumes, and dancing are fabulous, but they do not take away from the core themes of Cabaret and everything that occurs within this story. I’m shaken to my core by it, but a good shaken that I hope remains with me the rest of my life.

I went into Cabaret with no context or understanding of what the show was about, and in order to preserve that pureness of surprise, I cannot say anything else. My recommendation follows the infamous lyrics of this song that has been sung by so many, and who’s full context I will never take for granted again:

LIFE is a Cabaret, Old Chum,
Come
To the Cabaret.
