The Lizzie McGuire Movie

Hello dear friends, I’m so glad to be writing for you again! Let me take you on an excursion to my childhood. Films for foodies is not going away, but is being set aside for when I’m in the mood for the last two films I plan on sharing.

However, I will say there are three foodie moments in this film: 1). When the doctor examining Lizzie says “she should also eat too…apricots”. I’ve never personally thought about eating apricots when I haven’t felt well, but who knows maybe one day I’ll give it a try? 2). Ethan Craft and his obsession with spaghetti . Is Ethan kind of an idiot? Yeah, and not just kind of, but does his obsession with spaghetti in this film make you crave pasta? Absolutely! Make sure you have your favorite pasta with you when you watch this film. 3). The scene where the old Italian lady mistakes Lizzie for Isabella and hands her a gigantic wheel of cheese. Silly Lizzie, don’t you know what a great blessing that is? That’s Italian cheese honey, and it’s probably really expensive and DELICIOUS! If some really nice local just gave me a wheel of cheese, it would literally be the highlight of the trip…okay maybe that’s a stretch but I would LOVE IT!

Everything about this film is iconic and a classic for many people who belong to my sister and I’s generation. It’s basically our “Godfather”. Many of us know way too many of lines, love and almost relate to Miss Ungermeyer, love every single outfit Lizzie wears, and have always longed to discover for ourselves what dreams are made of. Oh and Gordo is our favorite person. Just as we don’t talk about Bruno, we don’t trust Paulo!

Of course, should not just be for people of a specific generation, but for everyone! Disney channel movies can be hit or miss, but I wholeheartedly believe that this film is almost too well done for the Disney channel canon. The set design is elaborate and gorgeous, the cinematography highlights the essence of beautiful Italy, and the script is honest, clever, hilarious, and well done!
