The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas

Warning to anyone who is going to see me in person the next couple weeks: be prepared to hear me randomly sing “Texas has a whorehouse in it” at any given time…I guarantee you it will probably happen.

This film has one of THE CATCHIEST soundtracks in film history! It’s impossible not to walk away from the film without singing at least one of the songs!

Today is the two year anniversary of my Grandma Oma’s death, and what better way to honor her than discuss one of her favorite films. For the longest time, I thought that this was going to be an extremely inappropriate movie and therefore I avoided watching it. Well folks, you can’t judge a book by its cover, nor can you judge a film by it’s title. The best way I can describe it is 1980’s rated R, so in todays light it’s not actually that bad. The film itself is also a satirical musical and so it doesn’t feel super naughty. AND it makes fun of Texas and TV sensationalists in the best way!

Plus, you can never go wrong with America’s angel, Dolly Parton! She is so adorable in this and so is Burt Reynolds! Grandma loved them both! She was a huge Dolly fan, and thought Burt Reynolds was very attractive!

There are no real flaws in this film, and it therefore earns
