Killers of the Flower Moon

This film was a masterpiece, but I can’t watch it again. Here’s why:
Everything in this film actually happened, and was one of the key cases that helped establish the FBI, and once you see this film, you will be SHOCKED and DISGUSTED, but hopefully not too surprised, to know that. I’m incredibly tempted to give away the whole story, but I can’t, so I will just say this: “Killers of the Flower Moon” is about the twisted creativity and awful methods used to eliminate and exterminate the indigenous community who lived in and owned the oil/oil rights of Osage County. If I were to compare this film to other films, I would say it’s “The Godfather” meets “Smoke Signals” meets “Apocalypse Now” meets “Legends of the Fall.”
All of that said, Robert DeNiro is very stereotypical Robert DeNiro in this movie, which would be the reason I wouldn’t give him the Supporting Actor’s Oscar. I’m a little surprised that Leo didn’t get an Oscar nomination because I almost forgot it was Leo in the film as the story carried on…his dedication to the character was chilling. I would almost hate him for it, but knowing the work Leo does in real life makes me realize he’s the best person to play this role because in doing so, he is exposing the real story of these events and thus fighting the good fight. Lily Gladstone fully deserves the Best Actress Oscar, and this isn’t just because she is an Indigenous actress. Her performance was very realistic, and she captured emotion in a very human way. Sometimes actresses are over the top in emotional moments, but she handles each moment like a normal person would, and it all felt really appropriate. Lily, you’ve got my vote.
My only complaint was that the movie was too long, yet at the same time if they tried to rush the pace, it would have been unrealistic. Each scene was important to the plot.
Leo has a post on his social media that talks about how the filmmakers and Apple TV + feel like this film is so important that they are giving people free 2-month trials of the service so they can watch it. I love that. I took them up on it, and it was legit. Message me if you want me to send you the post.
Do it! You won’t regret it!
