Her Alibi

Still intrigued about the idea of living like the main character in a novel? Here is another film that Grandma loved that explores that idea!
Tom Selleck plays a mystery novelist who likes to get ideas for his novels by watching court hearings. Just when he needed inspiration, an intriguing case comes his way, and he gets personally involved. Can he help this beautiful woman without getting stabbed in the back (literally)?
Filmed in 1989, this film has all the comfy nostalgia. For me, Tom Selleck defines this era of film, and he always adds a certain charm to every role he plays. There is just something about him that’s endearing. Perhaps it’s the sweet look in his eyes, or his sense of humor, or his voice. But let’s be real, a lot of it is his mustache. He truly pulls off this mustache, which is weird because looking at the mustache itself, it’s just different. Try googling him without the mustache though, and you realize how much it adds to his appearance. With that, there are only a handful of people who can pull off the stash and he is one of them! Grandma thought he was very handsome too! I genuinely cannot imagine anyone else playing his role in this film.
There are many great films in this world, but I think this one is truly special and has a script that is so many things without being chaotic. It’s funny, it’s clever, there are moments of suspense, there is romance, and this is all done without feeling either like a spoof or too much like an overrated Hollywood blockbuster. That’s the power of good writing.
